So this is my first blog. I thought I should blog about why I love my job. Its kind of a funny thing to love beautiful images so much. I knew I was interested in photography while I was still just a child. My dad really loved taking pictures and he made sure he took plenty of them while I was growing up. They were mostly candid photos of course but it captured a time that I would have most likely forgotten had I not had pictures to look back on.

Now with smartphones a camera’s never too far away. I don't think children these days will ever understand the importance a photograph once meant. But they will always be able to use photographs to remember a time long forgotten. And to me, photographs stop time and allow us to savor life just as it was for that moment so that when you look back you can celebrate where you were, when you were, and where you are now just by viewing a single forgotten moment captured long ago. Its almost like bending time.

As an adult and a mom, most days I feel like I just want so badly to stop time. To really enjoy my kids being so young and cute and adorable and all the little things that make them so precious to me. I was gifted a dslr camera for Christmas 2013 and then had my youngest child in 2015. I just REALLY wanted to take gorgeous pictures of him as he grew oh so quickly. I started following Jackie Jean Photography on Facebook because I was blown away by her beautifully rich photos. I learned a lot about Photoshop and Lightroom from Jackie and SO much about the business of photography from her Facebook group.

I jokingly told my husband I figured out what I want to do for a career, “be a photographer and make pictures like Jackie Jean”! My husband surprised me when he said “ok, I think that’s a great idea!”.  I was only joking but when he didn’t blink an eye lash I began to think seriously about it and have been pursuing photography on a professional level ever since. My sweet, sweet sister in law helped me start a class on how to shoot on manual mode. It took a while to really hone in on my camera skills. I took quite a few classes actually! The more I learned, the more I fell in love with photography.

The photographs I take reveals my inner soul and the depths of my heart. Whether they are of your family or my own there’s something about them that brings out my inner happiness. I actually get giddy about it! I want my family and yours to feel that giddiness when you look at your photographs. And lastly but most importantly, the reason I do what I do, is because God pointed me right to photography with a big ol’ spotlight just like I had prayed for.
